Luke 9:1-11

“And there came a man named Jairus, who was a ruler of the synagogue. And falling at Jesus’ feet, he implored him to come to his house, for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. As Jesus went, the people pressed around him.” (Luke 8:41–42, ESV)  

A Father Who Will Do What it Takes For His Daughter 

A Father Who Will Sense the Needs of His Daughter 

“And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed. And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.”” (Luke 8:47–48, ESV)  

A Father Who Will Not Give Up on His Daughter 

“While he was still speaking, someone from the ruler’s house came and said, “Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Teacher any more.” But Jesus on hearing this answered him, “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.”” (Luke 8:49–50, ESV)  

Questions: 

1.  Who moves you? Is there someone that you love so much that you do not want them to die without Jesus? 

2.  How much do you belong? Can you relate a time when God identified you as son or daughter? 

3.  Where has God taken you in your faith? Have you had an “only believe” moment?
